PROGRESS REPORT



We are honored to present the 10-year achievements progress report of the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) since the adoption of the UNGA Resolution 70/212, which proclaimed February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This report begins with the inspiring story of the resolution's inception, highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to this significant milestone. It then chronicles a decade of commemoration, celebrating the progress and achievements made in empowering women and girls in science.

8th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly



We, the High Representatives of Member States,
having met at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 10 February 2023,



Recognizing the contribution of the Women in Science International League for 25 years to the UN system in advocacy activities focused on the rights of women in science, by enhancing the social image of women in science, through the promotion of career opportunities for women in science and for girls who are considering science as their career path and through incentivising the private sector to invest in female youth science education and training amongst other initiatives.


Our Call to Action: We, who are setting out an ambitious and transformational vision of the role of all women and girls in all fields of sciences to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development:

Recognize the advisory role that the Women and Girls in Science International League can have in supporting international, regional and local associations, societies, and bodies working on gender equality in all fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), to implement, monitor, and advance partnerships for sustainable development through contributions to the development of policy, frameworks and action plans......

Recognize the Women in Science International League Directory, as an instrument to feature women scientists and experts from various disciplines, to facilitate their participation in dialogues, consultations, and collaboration within the Member States and the international community...

Nurture RASIT “Science and Society for Sustainable Development” as a tool to bridge between the two cultures: Science and Humanities, the creation, development, and consequences of science and technology in their historical, cultural, and social contexts, and promote multi-lingual dimension of science and technology to ensure equal opportunities for women and girls in science worldwide,



Science and Culture for Peace and Development



Recognize the interplay and interdependency between science, technology, and diplomacy, identify conditions and propose tools to put science, technology, and innovation at the heart of diplomacy, and showcase the need to integrate understanding of social aspects and cultural dimensions in diplomacy especially with capacity development.

What do we mean by SCIENCE?



Science means all-encompassing knowledge based on scholarship and research undertaken in the physical, biological, engineering, medical, natural and social disciplines, including the arts and humanities, which is underpinned by methodologies that build up and test increased understanding about our world and beyond.

Our Vision





RASIT is well recognized internationally as the first non-governmental body to facilitate UN General Assembly Resolutions, especially the UN GA resolution 70/212 proclaiming February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The League works at the nexus of STEAM and gender to provide high quality policy solutions and recommendations to broadening participation of women across all disciplines by maintaining visibility of women in science issues in policy and development international fora and promote consensus on evidence-based policy development and implementation (including strategic priorities and alignment of resources).
Our Vision:To ensure gender equity, diversity and inclusion in all fields of science through developing partnership for development to realize the women in science rights to the highest attainable standard of education and employment in the years to 2030 and beyond andSupporting members and partner organizations to align their strategic directions and catalyze collective action to achieve full participation of women in science in Decision Making and Sustainable Development Programs..

OuR Blind Fellow Scientists



Speaking at the 8th International Day of Women & Girls in Science Assembly, held on 10 February 2023 at the United Nations HQ in NYC, Dr. Wanda Diaz Merced , a Blind Professor of Astrophysics at the European Gravitational Observatory in Pisa, Italy, and the founding member of RASIT's global Campaign "Science in Braille", stressed on the importance of making science accessible and the need to include Blind professionals as agents for change in the sustainable development programs.
