MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA



Applicants seeking membership in the League should meet these criteria:

  • support the concept of the Advancement and Empowerment of Women specialized in all fields of sciences, and the League in its mandate towards achieving the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and its 17 Global Goals.
  • be active in the areas of STEM, arts, humanities, women’s rights, gender equality, or a closely related field, such as health, education, economic empowerment of women, women’s and girls’ health, environment, sustainable development, and other humanitarian fields.
  • be committed to collective action to reduce discrimination and violence against women in science and improve the League's outcomes, and endorse the values and general principles of the League, as reflected in the League’s vision, mission, and Operating Principles as stated in the Strategic Framework.


MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS



The main value-added of the League is that it brings together Individuals, Civil Society, Institutions, and Multilateral Organization focused on science, gender equality, education, research, and other related topics to women in science. The League member / partners can benefit from their membership in several ways, including:


Events and Networking - “Collaborative action is more effective.”

  • Opportunities for members to partner with a wide range of stakeholders on events and other initiatives to advance a common science, education, research, and gender equality agenda, including governments, UN agencies and other multilateral agencies, professionals, civil society, the private sector, and other partners.
  • The opportunity to jointly advocate for issues related to the advancement and empowerment of Women in Science.
  • The opportunity to attend and contribute to our Partners’ Forum and other activities and events at the United Nations and its entities.
  • Access to key professionals in STEM through the League’s Directory and interactive database.
  • Regular news and updates on the League website to facilitate the sharing of new ideas and best practices, the provision of data, and other information.

Visibility:

  • The listing of your name or organization in the League’s database.
  • A web link on the League website to your organization’s website.
  • The ability to send your own or your organization’s news, articles, publications, press releases, events, and notes from the field for posting on the League website.
  • The use of RASIT’s logo might be authorized, if appropriate, on joint communication materials (prior agreement/authorization by the League Secretariat and the RASIT Executive Board).
  • Access to knowledge and new resources.
  • Free access to the League and RASIT, the United Nations, and its entities news and other knowledge documents / events.
  • Regular electronic updates of headlines and breaking news about women, science, innovation, and sustainable development from around the world.
  • 50% Discounts to the League and RASIT activities.
  • Nominated for Speaking roles and Media interviews Internationally.




MEMBERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES



A member of the League is expected to:

  • Promote the League and advocate for the advancement and empowerment of women in science.
  • Support the implementation of the League Strategic Framework and contribute directly or indirectly to one or more Strategic Objectives, implement activities, and achieve results defined in the League work plan.
  • Work on promoting and building networks and relationships with their respective partners and consulting with them globally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Review the League work plan and support the development and implementation of the work plan.
  • Contribute time, effort, and/or resources to the League's activities if possible, e.g., direct funding and/or in-kind contributions, including technical expertise, staff time, assistance with media and networking, support for other members’ attendance at fora and other activities and events, etc.
  • Participate in the League consultations and requests for information and feedback as required, and to regularly share knowledge and contribute to the League's efforts to disseminate information through: contribution of stories, activities, updates, best practices, reports, projects, events, and news related to women in science issues or related fields, and the contribution of resources for the League website.
  • Update the League Secretariat on any relevant changes in your entity’s profile, focal points, or contact details.
  • Suggest and / or organize with the League an activity or event.


WHO CAN JOIN ..?



The Membership is open to women specialized in all fields of sciences, humanities, arts, law, media and communication, diplomacy, economics, and social leaders.


RASIT Women in Science International League welcomes men who are supporting women in science.


Membership Categories:

  • Professionals,
  • Youth (age between 21 – 29),
  • Organizations: Multilateral Agencies/International Organizations,
  • Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs),
  • Academic, Research and Training Institutions,
  • Scientific and Professional Associations, and
  • Private Sector.


MEMBERSHIP FEES



Individual Membership:

  • Professionals: Lifetime membership fee is US$ 950.00
  • Patrons: A contribution of US $25,000
  • Youth (21–25 years old): Five-year membership fee: US$250.00


Development Partners:

  • A contribution of US $45,000

Organizations:

Multilateral Agencies and International Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Academic, Research, and Training Institutions, and Scientific and Professional Associations join for free.
The Head of the organization and/or the authorized signatory personnel must submit an official letter indicating interest in joining the League.
